Biography

Kenneth Loh joined the Department of Structural Engineering at the University of California, San Diego as a Professor. He previously held the position of Associate Professor from 2015, and held titles as Assistant Professor from 2009 to 2013 and Associate Professor with tenure at the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering at the University of California, Davis from 2013 to 2015. He received his Ph.D. degree in Structural Engineering from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor in 2008, and completed M.S. degrees in Materials Science & Engineering and Civil Engineering in 2008 and 2005 respectively. Loh earned a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from Johns Hopkins University in 2004. His research interests include human performance monitoring, structural health monitoring, human-structure interactions, multifunctional materials, nanocomposites, soft materials, tomographic methods, and wearable technology. Loh is the Director of the Active, Responsive, Multifunctional, Ordered-materials Research Laboratory, with a mission to advance state-of-the-art stimuli-responsive materials that safeguard and enhance the capabilities of structural human assets.
