Biography

Kenneth Searle is currently a Lecturer in Political and International Studies at the University of Glasgow. In 2023, he completed his PhD through an ESRC-funded program in Political Science and International Studies at the University of Birmingham. His research examines the transformation of gay male identity in Britain from protest-based movements to assimilation during the post-Thatcher era, using empirical data gleaned from popular gay men's magazines. Kenneth has previously held positions as a Teaching Fellow and Associate Lecturer at the University of Exeter and as a Lecturer in Politics at Solihull College, where he developed a 2+2 Social Studies degree pathway in collaboration with the University of Warwick's Centre for Lifelong Learning. He has also gained a Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice (PGCAP) from Durham University, emphasizing effective pedagogy, and is an active member of the Innovative Pedagogy hub at Glasgow University. His prior experience includes working as a Research Fellow on an interdisciplinary project at the University of Birmingham's School of Education, which focused on improving resources for students with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). Kenneth’s findings have been published in journals such as Advances in Autism, and he is involved in co-designing a research initiative aimed at supporting Chinese students who are studying Politics and International Studies at the University of Glasgow.
