Kenneth Shull is a Professor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Northwestern University. He obtained his Ph.D. in Materials Science from Cornell University, as well as both M.S. and B.S. degrees in Electronic Materials and Materials Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). His research primarily focuses on the properties of polymer surfaces and interfaces, with specific emphasis on adhesion and soft materials. His work includes studying traditional pressure-sensitive adhesives, as well as specialized polymeric gels used in biomedical applications. Shull aims to understand the relationship between polymer adhesion and the structure of interfaces at both molecular and submolecular scales. He also explores polymer/inorganic composites and the mechanical response of biological systems. Shull is a Fellow of the American Physical Society and received the NSF Young Investigator Award.
