Kenny Breuer received his ScB from Brown University and both his MSc and PhD from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He spent nine years on the faculty at MIT in the Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics before returning to Brown in 1999. His research interests lie in Fluid Mechanics, covering a wide range of topics such as the physics of flows at micron and nanometer scales, animal flight (particularly bat flight), energy harvesting, vortex dynamics, and the physics of controlling turbulent flows. He is the author of hundreds of refereed technical publications and has edited or co-authored several books, including 'Microscale Diagnostic Techniques,' 'A Gallery of Fluid Motion,' and 'Multimedia Fluid Mechanics.' He is a fellow of the American Physical Society (APS) and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), and an Associate Fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA). At Brown, he directs the Center for Fluid Mechanics and has been involved in various funded research projects with organizations such as the National Science Foundation and the Office of Naval Research.
