Biography

Kenny received his Ph.D. degree from the School of Computing at the National University of Singapore in 2008. His Ph.D. thesis focused on regular expression type systems and compiler extensions. In 2009, Kenny joined Circos Brand Karma, a Singapore-based SME, where he was involved in developing analytics applications. He later worked with a software engineering team to create a SaaS product in the hospitality sector, including early adoption of Hadoop for cloud computing. From 2012 to 2020, Kenny served as a senior lecturer at Nanyang Polytechnic in the School of IT, teaching various subjects related to programming, web development, big data analytics, and artificial intelligence. He also held adjunct faculty positions at the University of Glasgow and Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences, focusing on teaching master's level subjects such as compiler design and functional programming. Kenny's research interests include software design, compiler design, type systems, regular expressions, automata theory, and program analysis. Outside of academia, he enjoys working with IoT devices and robots, spending time with his children, and engaging in sports and music activities.
