Biography

Kent MacKenzie completed his General Surgery Residency at McGill University and a Vascular Surgery Fellowship at the University of Chicago, where he also spent six months focusing on Endovascular Surgery and Interventional Radiology. His current clinical practice involves open and endovascular treatment of aneurysms of the abdominal and thoracic aorta, managing acute thoracic aortic emergencies, and addressing carotid and peripheral arterial occlusive disease, as well as arteriovenous dialysis access. He participates actively in research within the Division of Vascular Surgery and is a strong supporter of residency training programs. MacKenzie serves as an Examiner for the Vascular Surgery Examination Board of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and has held the position of Chair for the Education Committee of the Academic Program for the Canadian Society of Vascular Surgery (CSVS). He has also completed a term on the Strategic Board of the Society for Vascular Surgery. Currently, he holds the appointment of Associate Professor in the Department of Surgery at McGill University and previously completed a ten-year tenure as Program Director for the McGill Vascular Surgery Residency. He served as President of the Canadian Society for Vascular Surgery from 2018 to 2019 and was involved in an Executive position within CSVS for seven years.
