Kent S. Novakowski is a Professor Emeritus in the Department of Civil Engineering at Queen's University. He obtained his PhD in Hydrogeology from the University of Waterloo in 1992. With extensive experience in hydrogeology, including crystalline, sedimentary, and fractured rock, he focuses on numerical and semi-analytical model development and their application to heat and solute transport issues in fractured rock. His recent research includes investigating CO2 sequestration in fractured crystalline rock. He has supervised over 45 graduate students, published more than 250 papers and abstracts, and served as an Associate Editor for several scholarly journals, including Water Resources Research and the Canadian Geotechnical Journal. He has also been recognized as a Fellow of the Canadian Society of Civil Engineers and the Engineering Institute of Canada. Professor Novakowski's aim is to achieve net-zero CO2 emissions by 2050 through innovative geological solutions.
