Biography

Keren Hasbani, M.D., is a pediatric cardiologist and assistant professor in the Department of Pediatrics at Dell Medical School. She is the director of cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) at Dell Children's Medical Center of Central Texas. Dr. Hasbani specializes in advanced imaging and management of congenital and acquired heart disease in children. She has a strong background in pediatric congenital heart disease, with specific training and expertise in cardiac magnetic resonance imaging. Dr. Hasbani's early work in CMR was conducted at the National Institutes of Health, where she studied the relationship between Freidreich ataxia and progressive cardiomyopathy in muscular dystrophies. She has performed numerous CMR studies on patients who have undergone surgical repair for congenital heart disease. Throughout her career, Dr. Hasbani has focused her research on improving image quality and acquisition time in CMR, thereby enhancing the ability to predict patient outcomes. Prior to her current position in Austin, she developed a CMR program at Advocate Children’s Hospital in Chicago, serving as the principal investigator for several multi-center cardiac MRI research projects.
