Biography

Kerri Bodin completed her doctorate in 2023 at the University of Ottawa. She previously earned a Master of Arts in Sociocultural Studies of Kinesiology from Western University in 2018, and a Bachelor of Kinesiology from the University of British Columbia in 2015. As an Assistant Professor, she has varied work experience in the public sector of the sport industry and is passionate about bridging research and practice to improve sport for everyone. Professor Bodin is currently accepting new students for thesis supervision. Her research focuses broadly on sport event impact and leveraging, including how stakeholders use sport events strategically to meet their objectives and the impact of sport events on host community residents. Utilizing qualitative and mixed methods approaches, Professor Bodin investigates event leveraging efforts by various stakeholders, including sport organizations and local governments. Her primary interest is understanding residents' perspectives and how elected officials modify their strategies based on community engagement in event-related decision-making.
