Biography

Kerri Froc is an Associate Professor at the University of New Brunswick's Law School and a Trudeau Vanier Scholar. She has taught courses at Carleton University, Queen’s University, and the University of Ottawa, focusing on feminist legal theory and various aspects of public law. Kerri received her PhD from Queen’s University in 2016 and holds a Master of Laws from the University of Ottawa, a Bachelor of Laws from Osgoode Hall Law School, and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Regina. With a substantial background as a civil litigator in Regina, Kerri spent eighteen years practicing law and served as a staff lawyer with the Women's Legal Education Action Fund (LEAF) and the Canadian Bar Association, concentrating on law reform and equality. She is a member of both the Saskatchewan and New Brunswick bars. Her research interests encompass women's constitutional rights, equality, social economic rights, access to justice, rule of law, political representation theories, and constitutional interpretation, including originalism and feminist legal theory. Kerri is actively involved in her current projects, which include a manuscript tentatively titled “The Gendered Constitution” and the Women’s Court Canada project. Her selected publications reflect her research in federalism, the principles of equality, and Canada's charter rights, addressing key issues in constitutional law.
