Kerry Kinney holds the L.P. Gilvin Centennial Professorship in the Fariborz Maseeh Department of Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin. Kinney’s cross-disciplinary research focuses on environmental engineering and molecular biology, particularly investigating microorganisms and contaminants in engineered systems, buildings, and residential water systems. She has extensive experience working with multidisciplinary teams to investigate human exposure to microorganisms and contaminants in indoor environments. Over the past decade, her research group has explored microorganisms and allergens found in schools, homes, and buildings, leading to a greater understanding of the conditions that promote fungal growth and the development of new indoor sampling strategies. Kinney is also involved with the Communities–Whole Health Bridging Barriers Initiative and serves on the steering committee of the Center for Health and Environment: Education and Research at Dell Medical School.
