Dr. Keshav Dasgupta

Biography

Keshav Dasgupta is a Professor in the Department of Physics at McGill University since March 2021. He received his MSc from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, and his PhD from the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Mumbai, India. He has held postdoctoral fellowships at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton, NJ, and Stanford University in Stanford, CA. Before his current position, he served as an Assistant Professor at McGill University from September 2005 to 2010 and as an Associate Professor from June 2010 to February 2021. His research interests encompass several areas of theoretical physics, particularly Superstring Theory, where he explores topics such as compactifications, gauge/gravity dualities, and the mathematics underlying string theory. He is also engaged in researching Quantum Field Theories and their dynamics, with a keen focus on thermal QCD. In addition, his work in Mathematics is centered on algebraic and differential geometry, contributing to the classification of Lie groups and their applications to string theory. His academic pursuits are driven by a commitment to understanding the fundamental structures that govern the universe.
