Biography

Ketan Savla is an Associate Professor and John Dorothy Shea Early Career Chair in Civil Engineering at the University of Southern California. He holds joint appointments in the Sonny Astani Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Daniel J. Epstein Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering (courtesy), and Ming Hsieh Department of Electrical Engineering-Systems (courtesy). Savla earned his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and M.A. in Applied Mathematics from the University of California at Santa Barbara, and an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. His research interests include distributed robust optimal control, dynamical networks, state-dependent queuing systems, and incentive design, with application areas in infrastructure systems and robotics. He has served as an Associate Editor on the Conference Editorial Board of various IEEE journals and is the co-founder and Chief Science Officer of Xtelligent, Inc. Notable awards include the 2024 IEEE Intelligent Transportation Systems Society Outstanding Application Award and the 2017 American Automatic Control Council Donald P. Eckman Award.
