Dr. Ketevan Bolkvadze

Biography

Ketevan Bolkvadze is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Political Science in Lund University. She previously held the position of Crafoord Fellow at Harvard University in 2023 and served as a visiting scholar at Uppsala University in 2015. Ketevan earned her PhD from the University of Gothenburg in 2018. Her research interests encompass democratization, hybrid regimes, justice and security reforms, and environmental politics. Broadly, she is dedicated to making democratic governance functional and incentivizing politicians to shift their focus from short-term to long-term perspectives to effectively provide public services to citizens. Her work has been published in prestigious journals such as Comparative Political Studies, European Journal of Political Research, and Democratization. Ketevan has received significant research grants from Horizon Europe, the Swedish Research Council for Sustainable Development, the Crafoord Foundation, and the Bank of Sweden Tercentenary Foundation. In addition to her academic endeavors, she has served as a consultant for organizations like Freedom House and the European Commission, and has been involved with the Georgian Institute of Politics as a board member. Ketevan's expertise is closely linked to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, emphasizing her commitment to contributing to global efforts in combating poverty and ensuring prosperity for all.
