Dr. Kevin Banks

Biography

Kevin Banks is an Associate Professor of Law at Queen's University, where he also serves as the Associate Dean for Faculty Academic Policy and Director of the Centre for Law in the Contemporary Workplace. An influential voice in the field of labour and employment law, he has authored numerous publications focusing on the intersections of economic globalization, technological change, and legal frameworks governing labour relations. His research examines critical issues such as the rights of employees to freedom of association under common law, the effectiveness of labour standards enforcement, and the accommodations for individuals with disabilities in the workplace. In addition to his teaching and research, Banks plays an active role in various national and international committees, including the International Labour Organization. He has previously held significant positions within the Canadian Public Service, enhancing labour policy and workplace information. His academic contributions include editing and authoring key texts in the field, reflecting a commitment to advancing knowledge in labour law, particularly concerning the influence of global agreements on national labor practices.
