Dr. Kevin Brooks

Biography

Kevin Brooks is an accomplished academic specializing in perception psychology. He initiated his academic journey studying Physics at Imperial College London, transitioning to Psychology at the University of York, where he engaged in undergraduate research on image contrast and perceived speed under the guidance of Professor Peter Thompson. His doctoral research at the University of Sussex, supervised by Professor George Mather, focused on suprathreshold stereomotion perception. Brooks has held significant research positions, including a senior research associate at NASA Ames Research Center, which allowed him to explore motion depth perception. His post-doctoral work further expanded his interests in facial recognition and depth perception at the University of New South Wales. In his current role at Macquarie University, he continues to delve into various aspects of visual perception, including motion processing, stereopsis, and body image perception. He is also actively involved in teaching courses such as Advanced Visual Perception and Research Methods, underlining his dedication to education and mentorship in the field of psychology.
