Biography

Kevin Bryson is currently the Head of the IDA Section at the University of Glasgow's School of Computing Science. He obtained his BSc with honors in Mathematics and Computer Science from Heriot-Watt University in 1991 and completed his DPhil in Physics at the University of York in 1996. Following three years in the industry at Oxford Molecular Ltd. developing bioinformatics software, he took a BBSRC Fellowship at the University of Warwick, focusing on the application of multi-agent systems to data integration in bioinformatics. He was awarded an EU Individual Marie Curie Fellowship at INRA Paris to further develop autonomous multi-agent systems for bioinformatics data analysis. Bryson later moved to UCL to analyze gene expression profiles of stem cells and rose to the rank of Senior Lecturer and Associate Professor in bioinformatics systems biology, applying machine learning and AI techniques to biological data. He joined the University of Glasgow in 2021 to lead the IDA Section and co-lead the AI4BioMed Lab, applying deep learning and agentic AI technologies in cancer bioinformatics and precision medicine.
