Biography

Kevin Chuen Wing C. Chan is an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Radiology at New York University Grossman School of Medicine. He directs the Neuroimaging Visual Science Laboratory, focusing on developing and applying new noninvasive imaging methods to study the degeneration, development, protection, plasticity, and regeneration of the visual system. With 15 years of experience in structural, metabolic, and functional imaging research relating to the eye and brain, Chan's work notably addresses glaucoma and other visual impairments. He completed his doctoral studies in biomedical engineering with a focus on neuroimaging at the University of Hong Kong, where he received the Li Ka Shing Prize for the best PhD thesis. In his career, he has been recognized as a junior fellow of the International Society of Magnetic Resonance Medicine (ISMRM) in 2010 and was a Fulbright scholar from 2009 to 2010. Chan has received several awards, including the Alcon Research Institute Young Investigator Award in 2014 and the BrightFocus Foundation National Glaucoma Research Award in 2013, 2016, and 2019. His research is pivotal in guiding vision preservation and restoration techniques.
