Biography

Kevin worked at the Department of Agriculture in Pasture Science in Western Australia for over 30 years. He contributed to the development of new improved pasture legume species for cropping pasture systems and characterized new legume germplasm overseas, screening subclover genotypes for low oestrogenic content. He has a proven record of publication with both scientific and extension industry impact. For 11 years, Kevin bred legumes with high oestrogenic content for therapeutic medicinal value in the pharmaceutical industry, co-breeding red clovers and obtaining Plant Breeder Rights protection for unique isoflavone chemical profiles. His work led to the marketing of pharmaceutical products in Australia, the UK, and the USA. In 2014, he moved to the University of Western Australia as a Senior Research Scientist, where his research interests now include phytoestrogens and their effects on animal health and reproduction, drought stress in pasture legumes, and investigations into potential high-value honey production from selected legume cultivars.
