Biography

Kevin Michael Gibas is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University and serves as Associate Medical Director for Epidemiology and Infection Prevention at Rhode Island Hospital. His primary research interests lie in implementation science, health disparities, and health services research, particularly in studying and implementing interventions to prevent healthcare-associated infections among vulnerable patient populations. Dr. Gibas completed his Bachelor of Liberal Arts and Doctor of Medicine degrees from the University of Missouri-Kansas City in 2017. He went on to complete his Internal Medicine residency at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts, followed by an Infectious Diseases fellowship at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee, where he was appointed Chief Fellow. He holds a Master of Public Health degree with a focus on Health Policy from Vanderbilt University, which he completed in May 2023. Dr. Gibas has been actively involved in research concerning geographic and sociodemographic disparities in late HIV diagnoses in Tennessee during his postdoctoral research fellowship. He joined the faculty at Brown Medicine in the Infectious Diseases division in August 2023 and is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases by the American Board of Internal Medicine. Dr. Gibas has received several accolades, including recognition from the Vanderbilt Institute for Global Health and induction into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society.
