Kevin Haas is a Professor and Associate Chair of Undergraduate Programs in the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology. He obtained his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Ohio State University in 1994, followed by a Master of Science in Civil Engineering in 1996. He completed his Ph.D. in Coastal Engineering at the University of Delaware in January 2001. Dr. Haas began his post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Delaware where he worked until December 2002. He joined the faculty at Georgia Tech in January 2003, initially at the Savannah campus, and was promoted to tenure in 2009. In 2013, he relocated to the Atlanta campus. Since 2018, he has served as the Associate Chair for Undergraduate Programs. Dr. Haas co-directed the Ocean Science Engineering program from its inception in 2017 and has developed an extensive research program focused on nearshore processes, marine hydrokinetic energy among other subjects. He is also recognized for his innovative teaching practices at both undergraduate and graduate levels, and he has received several awards due to his significant contributions to the field and education.
