Biography

Kevin Kemp is a Senior Lecturer in Neuroscience at the University of Bristol. He holds degrees from the University of the West of England and the University of Bristol, including a B.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D. His research primarily focuses on developing neuro-regenerative therapies for individuals suffering from currently untreatable progressive neurological diseases. His work particularly investigates the potential of cell therapies in treating human diseases, exploring how adult stem cells derived from bone marrow can protect and repair injured nerve cells. Through both basic neuroscience and translational clinical trials, Kevin's research delves into the medical applications of bone marrow stem cell transplantation and various mobilisation techniques aimed at regenerative therapy for conditions such as Friedreich’s ataxia and other cerebellar disorders. He is actively involved in multiple research projects that aim to enhance understanding and treatment of neurodegenerative diseases.
