Kevin Kerr is a playwright and a founding member of Vancouver’s Electric Company Theatre. He has collaborated on the creation of more than a dozen full-length productions, including notable works like Brilliant!, Studies in Motion, and Tear Curtain!, which earned him the Governor General’s Literary Award in 2002 for the play Unity (1918). His plays, such as Skydive, and Spine (both Realwheels Theatre), Remittance Man (Sunshine Theatre), Secret World of Og (Carousel Theatre Young People), and Night’s Mare (Caravan Farm Theatre) have been produced extensively across Canada and worldwide. He co-wrote the feature film adaptation of Score for CBC Television and collaborated with Stan Douglas on an interactive immersive installation for the National Film Board called 1948. His latest project involves a suite of virtual reality installations accompanying Electric Company Theatre’s newest production, Full Light Day. Kevin joined the University of Victoria’s Department of Writing in 2012 and currently teaches playwriting and screenwriting, with a creative focus on cinematic/theatre hybrids, collaborative creation, site-specific theatre, and interactive narratives.
