Dr. Kevin Liu

Biography

Kevin Liu is an Associate Professor at UNSW Business School and currently serves as the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Programs. His academic career began in 2011 at the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA), where he contributed to research on superannuation and retirement income policies. Liu holds a Ph.D. in Finance from the University of Sydney and has been recognized as a Scientia Education Fellow. He has led numerous educational innovations and developments across UNSW’s Business School, including the Undergraduate Actuarial Studies Program, which has become one of the largest in the world. His research primarily focuses on governance and performance of superannuation funds, as well as systemic risks in retirement systems. Liu is also known for his contributions to educational tools and programs that enhance student learning and engagement, such as the Sandbox Program and the StoryWall framework for formative assessments. He consistently participates in national and international conferences, presenting on innovations in business education. Liu is passionate about advancing financial literacy and improving retirement outcomes for individuals through initiatives like Understanding Super, a platform aimed at educating Australians about superannuation.
