Biography

Kevin McKay is a Clinical Associate Professor of Psychiatry and Human Behavior at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University, and a Pain Psychologist at the Providence Veterans' Affairs Medical Center. He earned his PhD in Counseling Psychology with a minor in Health Psychology from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. He completed his pre-doctoral internship at the Hines Veterans' Affairs Medical Center in Chicago, IL, and a postdoctoral fellowship at the Health Psychology Clinic at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics. McKay is actively involved in training programs at Brown University, supervising Pre-Doctoral Psychology Residents in Primary Care Behavioral Health and has extensive experience in Long-Term Therapy and Behavioral Pain Management. His research has been published in various journals, addressing topics such as the integration of psychologists into primary care, the impact of protective factors in youth exposed to violence, and the effects of psychopharmacological treatment for depression. McKay's contributions to his field have been recognized with several awards, including the Dean’s Excellence Teaching Award from Alpert Medical School.
