Biography

Kevin McMeeking is an Associate Professor of Accounting at the University of Bristol and a Visiting Professor at the University of Exeter. He completed his undergraduate degree in Accounting and Financial Analysis at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne and earned his PhD in Accounting from Lancaster University. Prior to joining the University of Bristol in 2025, he taught at the University of Exeter from 1998 to 2020 and served as the Professor of Accounting and Research Director for the Accounting & Auditing Research Group at Brunel University from 2020 to 2025. His research interests are interdisciplinary in nature, focusing on audit and assurance, financial analysis, and the impact of financial and non-financial reporting disclosures on corporate governance and accountability. McMeeking's published work can be found in renowned journals such as Accounting Business Research, Accounting Europe, and British Accounting Review. He has a particular interest in supervising PhD students in the fields of disclosure and corporate finance assurance, and his current research projects include investigations into the impact of value performance audits and simplification of the UK tax system.
