Dr. Kevin Mulligan

Biography

Kevin Mulligan is a Professor of Philosophy at the Università della Svizzera italiana. He occupied the chair in analytic philosophy at the University of Geneva from 1986 to 2016 and founded the European Society for Analytic Philosophy (ESAP). Mulligan has co-founded the Eidos – Geneva-Lugano centre for metaphysics and has been a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Letters and Academia Europaea. His teaching experience spans various prestigious institutions across Europe and beyond, including cities like Dublin, Sydney, and Florence. Mulligan has supervised PhD theses of over 30 students and has held academic positions in multiple countries. His research extensively covers topics in analytic metaphysics and philosophy of mind, particularly focusing on Austrian thought and concepts like emotions, properties, and truth. He has directed several major research projects funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation, addressing complex questions in metaphysics and cognitive science. Mulligan has contributed significantly to philosophical discourse with numerous publications in relevant fields, enhancing understanding of various philosophical concepts and frameworks. He continues to engage with emerging philosophical challenges and guide scholarly inquiries in contemporary philosophy.
