Biography

Kevin Tian is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Texas at Austin. He completed his Ph.D. in Computer Science at Stanford University, where he was advised by Aaron Sidford, from 2016 to 2022. Prior to joining UT Austin, Kevin was a postdoctoral researcher at Microsoft Research in Redmond during the 2022-2023 academic year. His research interests lie in fundamental algorithmic problems in modern data science, focusing on continuous optimization and high-dimensional statistics. Kevin has received multiple accolades, including the Simons-Berkeley VMware Research Fellowship in 2021 and the Google Ph.D. Fellowship. His academic journey is supported by a background in mathematics and computer science, evidenced by his B.S. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
