Biography

Kevin Wade, originally from Ireland, pursued his education in Agricultural Sciences at University College Dublin, where he earned both his Bachelor's and Master's degrees. He later obtained his PhD in Animal Breeding Genetics from Cornell University in 1990. Following his post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Guelph, he implemented national genetic evaluations focused on Calving Ease in dairy cattle. In 1992, he was appointed to McGill's Department of Animal Science to lead the NSERC-Semex Dairy Information Systems position. Wade is dedicated to enhancing dairy herd management through data-driven insights, collaborating primarily with Valacta, the Dairy Production Centre of Expertise for Quebec and Atlantic Canada. His administrative leadership extends to service in McGill's University Senate and various committees, including Director of Continuing Professional Development and Chair of the Department of Animal Science from 2007 to 2018. Additionally, Wade is recognized as the Faculty's Dairy Academic Lead, where he is involved in significant dairy production research and teaching initiatives. He contributes to numerous professional organizations, enhancing the field through collaborative research and practical applications in dairy management.
