Biography

Kevin Zapata-Celestino is a Fellow at the London School of Economics (LSE), specializing in social public policy in Latin America. His doctoral thesis focused on the policy community which includes renowned scholars, domestic policymakers, and international consultants, particularly analyzing Mexico’s antipoverty agenda. He has been a key player in several multidisciplinary research projects, notably as part of the 'Solidarity Pandemic + Latin America' consortium coordinated by the University of Vienna, where he investigated the social impact of the pandemic across twelve Latin American and Caribbean countries. His work has also encompassed examining state capture mechanisms in Mexico through a project with Oxfam. He is also involved in a project aimed at understanding the perspectives of school bullying perpetrators in Mexico to develop better interventions. Aside from his research, Kevin has taught undergraduate and postgraduate courses at various universities in the UK, including the University of Edinburgh, UCL, and the University of Nottingham, and he regularly contributes as a columnist and media commentator on social issues in Mexico and Latin America.
