Keyvan Hashtrudi-Zaad received his Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of British Columbia, Canada, in 2000. He held a consulting position at Motion Metrics International Corp. in Vancouver, developing dynamic payload monitoring systems for heavy-duty hydraulic machines. In 2001, he joined the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Queen’s University, Canada, and currently serves as a Professor and Director of the Interactive Robotics Intelligent Systems (IRIS) Laboratory. His research interests include control applications for intelligent systems, such as haptics, telerobotics, rehabilitation robotics, and autonomous driving. His seminal work in telerobotic systems is recognized in the field, and he holds positions as an Associate Editor for the IEEE Robotics Automation Letters and has chaired several committees including the IEEE RAS Technical Committee on Telerobotics. He also serves as the Undergraduate Program Chair for the Mechatronics and Robotics Engineering program at Queen's University. Hashtrudi-Zaad actively engages in the IRIS Lab, promoting research in rehabilitation robotics and telerobotics, with significant focus on robotic technology and haptic systems.
