Biography

Khaled Galal joined the Department of Building, Civil, Environmental Engineering at Concordia University as an Assistant Professor in 2004, and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2008 and to Professor in 2014. He earned his Ph.D. from McMaster University, Canada in 2002. Following this, he was a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Earthquake Engineering Research Group at the Centre for Effective Design of Structures at McMaster University from 2002 to 2004. He holds both an M.Sc. (1998) and a B.Sc. (1993) from Ain Shams University in Egypt. His research interests primarily include seismic rehabilitation of reinforced concrete masonry structures, applications of advanced composite materials for new structures, and upgrading deteriorating structures. He also focuses on modeling rehabilitation of deteriorated bridges and mitigating progressive collapse in buildings. Khaled has taught various courses in structural analysis, design, and dynamics, contributing significantly to the academic growth of his students and the body of knowledge in his field.
