Dr. Khashayar Ghandi

Biography

Khashayar Ghandi is a Professor in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Guelph. His research focuses on the fundamental aspects of physical chemistry and chemical physics, particularly in the fields of energy, material science, and green chemistry. He explores novel types of chemical bonds, kinetic isotope effects, and the development of new spectroscopic techniques for studying molecular intermediates under extreme conditions. His work is highly collaborative and often intersects with biology, medicine, and engineering, supported by funding from various industrial grants and organizations such as NSERC and CFI. Ghandi's group has made significant contributions to the field, particularly in the context of Generation IV Energy Technologies. He supervises graduate students in hands-on laboratory work as well as computational research, utilizing high-performance computing for electronic structure calculations and conducting experiments at international facilities in Canada, Europe, and Japan.
