Dr. Khurshid Khan

Biography

Dr. Khurshid Khan is a professor in the Department of Neurology at the University of Alberta and is recognized as a leading expert in cerebrovascular disorders, particularly strokes. He received his neurology training at the University of Saskatchewan and completed a Stroke Fellowship at the University of Alberta. Dr. Khan is presently the director of the Stroke Fellowship Program at the University of Alberta, renowned as one of the largest stroke fellowship programs in Canada, producing fellows who have gone on to lead esteemed stroke programs worldwide. His contributions to stroke neurology also include the initiation of the Tele-Stroke Program, which extends medical assistance to remote areas in northern Alberta. Dr. Khan's research interests focus on cerebral flow dynamics using Transcranial Doppler ultrasound, with a specific emphasis on ischemic strokes, subarachnoid hemorrhages, and sickle cell disease. He is actively involved in academia, contributing to both undergraduate and postgraduate education while supervising international medical graduates. His publications reflect his extensive work in neurology and telemedicine, garnering recognition for his scholarly contributions.
