Biography

Dr. Ki-Hyuk Shin is an Adjunct Professor at the UCLA School of Dentistry where he serves as the Director of Preclinical Laboratory Operations. He is the Course Chair for Foundations of Microbiology and Foundations of Pharmacology. His research focuses on molecular mechanisms of oral carcinogenesis, cancer stem cell biology, and the therapeutic application of dental mesenchymal stem cells. Dr. Shin leads the Shapiro Family Laboratory of Viral Oncology Aging Research at UCLA and is an active member of the Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center at the David Geffen School of Medicine. He earned his B.S. from Korea University in 1990, followed by his M.S. and Ph.D. from UCLA in 1992 and 1995, respectively. Dr. Shin has received numerous accolades for his mentorship and teaching, reflecting his dedication to education and research in oral health.
