Biography

Kia Skrine Jeffers is an Assistant Professor in the Joe C. Wen School of Nursing at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Her research primarily focuses on mental health promotion and cardiometabolic disease prevention among Black women throughout their life courses, employing participatory, arts-based, mixed methods approaches. Dr. Skrine Jeffers has developed innovative data collection and research dissemination strategies, including the therapy-informed virtual mental health intervention, See Sis. She actively engages with community partners to advance feasibility testing and implementation of therapeutic outcomes. With clinical expertise in community health nursing, she leads the Public Health Nursing didactic and clinical course in the Bachelor of Science program. Her research contributions also encompass middle and older adulthood mental health promotion, maternal mental health, arts-based interventions, and community-partnered research.
