Biography

Kia Teymourian is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Texas at Austin. His research focuses on real-time information extraction from big data streams. Before joining UT Austin, he served as an Assistant Professor at Boston University and worked as a postdoctoral researcher at Rice University. Teymourian obtained his PhD in Computer Science from Freie Universität Berlin, where he was a doctoral researcher from 2008 to 2014. His work has contributed significantly to various topics in database systems, data analytics, and distributed event-based systems, with a particular emphasis on knowledge-based complex event processing and large-scale semantic-enabled distributed information systems. In recognition of his contributions, he received the Grand Challenge Solution Award at the 13th ACM International Conference on Distributed Event-Based Systems in 2019.
