Biography

Kian Salimkhani is an Assistant Professor at Radboud University, within the Institute of Science and Society. His research primarily focuses on metaphysical, methodological, and foundational questions in physics. His key areas of interest include the philosophy of spacetime, quantum gravity, fundamentality, and the unification of physics. Salimkhani explores the individual obligations in cases of collective harm, such as the climate crisis and pandemics. He is a part of the new Radboud Centre for Natural Philosophy (RCNP) and has previously served as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Cologne. In 2023, he acted as a visiting scholar at the Centre for Philosophy of Sciences at the University of Oslo. He earned his PhD in philosophy from the University of Bonn in 2020 and is especially interested in the issues of fundamentality in the philosophy of physics. His current work is part of a DFG project titled 'Fundamentality in Physics and Metaphysics', aimed at exploring pressing conceptual, ontological, and methodological questions at the intersection of philosophy, physics, and metaphysics.
