Biography

Kim Beck is an artist whose work includes photography, print, drawing, installation, and sculpture. Originally from Colorado, she currently resides in Pittsburgh and is an Associate Professor in the School of Art at Carnegie Mellon University. Her work has been exhibited at renowned venues such as the Walker Art Center, Carnegie Museum of Art, Smack Mellon, Socrates Sculpture Park, the Warhol Museum, the Indianapolis Museum of Art, Omi Sculpture Park, and Hallwalls. Beck has been a fellow at the Oak Springs Garden Foundation, Bemis Center, MacDowell Colony, Yaddo, Art Omi, Cannonball, and the Helsinki International Artist Programme, as well as multiple other prestigious arts programs. Her work is included in the collections of Agnes Gund, the Philbrook Museum of Art, the Minneapolis Museum of Art, the Carnegie Museum of Art, and the Denver Art Museum. Throughout her career, she has received numerous awards including from ARS Electronica, the Studio for Creative Inquiry, the Pollock-Krasner Foundation, the Heinz Foundation, the Sprout Fund, the Pittsburgh Foundation, and the Thomas J. Watson Foundation. Her work has been reviewed in various publications such as Art America, the New York and Philadelphia Inquirer, the Village Voice, Interior Design Magazine, Believer Magazine, BOMBlog, theartblog, Architect's Newspaper, and Time New York.
