Professor Dr. Kim Guyer

Biography

Kim Guyer began her nursing career in pediatric neonatal intensive care units, where she quickly discovered her passion for teaching new nurses and unit caregivers. Her primary focus has been on teaching caregivers the skills necessary to bring a child home, which ultimately led to working in the community. This role has provided her with the opportunity to directly manage nurses and caregivers in the care of fragile pediatric patients at home, which she finds to be an overwhelmingly rewarding experience. She aims to motivate nursing students to expand their perspectives beyond the hospital walls and recognize the interconnectedness of children and caregivers within the context of the community.
