Biography

Professor Kim Levere received her PhD from the University of Guelph in 2012. Following her doctorate, she worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the same university before becoming an Assistant Professor in the School of Engineering in 2013. In 2021, she was promoted to Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics. Her research focuses on dynamical systems and the formulation of mathematical models to describe real-world phenomena, such as chemical reactions and the mathematics of emotion. She utilizes numerical methods, analysis, computing, statistics, and optimization in her work. Prof. Levere is committed to teaching and divides her time between instruction and research. As an instructor of entry-level mathematics and statistics courses, she seeks to bridge the gaps between high school and university Calculus, enhancing the student learning experience. In addition to her teaching responsibilities, Levere has conducted research on Competency-Based Education to improve student transitions to university. She has received several awards, including the Guelph Faculty Association Distinguished Professor Award for Innovation in Teaching in 2016 and the Favourite Fall Professor award from University of Guelph Student Housing in 2017, 2019, and 2020.
