Biography

Professor Kim Piper is the inaugural Academic Director for Student Success at King's College London, appointed in 2024. She leads university-wide strategies focused on student success, access, inclusion, and student outcomes. Her work aims to embed these priorities within the institution, driving change to support both undergraduate and postgraduate success. Since joining King's in 2019 as Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, Oral & Craniofacial Sciences, she has led transformative reforms in governance, curriculum, and assessment, as well as the development of a new £3.1 million simulation haptics laboratory. Professor Piper has played a significant role in the development of the university’s Access and Participation Plan, the launch of a Personal Tutor Dashboard, and the expansion of outreach programs like K+ and the United Learning Teacher CPD. She is a Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists and the Royal College of Surgeons, listed on the General Dental Council’s specialist register for Oral & Maxillofacial Pathology. Kim’s leadership spans both higher education and the NHS, with expertise in curriculum design, clinical education, and strategic communications. She has held senior roles and was an elected member of the KCL council, previously leading admissions and widening participation for Medicine and Dentistry. Professor Piper is nationally recognized for her efforts in widening participation and inclusive education, representing King's in various leadership forums.
