Dr. Kim Putters

Biography

Kim Putters is a Professor of Health Management at the Institute of Health Policy and Management at Erasmus University Rotterdam. With a background in public administration, he has focused on Healthcare Governance. He earned his PhD with a study on reforms in Dutch healthcare, emphasizing the management of hospital care. Putters has worked at various prestigious institutions including the Department of Public Administration at Erasmus University and the Tilburg School of Politics and Administration. His research employs a multidisciplinary approach to health management, analyzing market behavior and the roles of government, professional domains, and civil society. He explores the intersectoral orientation and the resulting complexities at the boundaries of health sectors, and his work addresses how hybrid organizations within public-private contexts respond to market and governmental incentives. Additionally, he examines the relationship between research, knowledge, and policy implementation in healthcare, and advocates for new models of quality management and patient empowerment. He aims to bridge the gap between scientific research and practical application in healthcare management.
