Dr. Kim Snepvangers

Biography

Kim Snepvangers is an Associate Professor at the University of New South Wales, Australia, in the Faculty of Arts, Design and Architecture, and the School of Art and Design. With a focus on creativity and creative ecologies, her research employs qualitative methods and case studies to examine gaps in conventional understandings of creative professional practice. She is particularly interested in engaging Indigenous perspectives and developing participatory economies that sustain relationships between creative professionals and their partners in the industry. Kim has been recognized for her academic contributions with the International Society Education Art's InSEA Award for Excellence in Research Education Art in 2018. Her leadership roles include serving as the Head of the School of Art History and Art Education and representing Art and Design on various committees, including the Women Research Network and the Arts Education Research Practice Special Interest Group. Kim has published extensively, contributing to edited volumes on creativity policy and has received several awards for her teaching and innovation in art and design education, including the Outstanding Contribution to Student Learning citation. She has also coordinated professional experience projects that foster partnerships with key creative industries and cultural institutions.
