Dr. Kim Trottier

Biography

Professor Trottier is an Associate Professor at the Beedie School of Business, Simon Fraser University. He holds a PhD in Accounting and Economics from the University of British Columbia and an MSc in Accounting from the same institution, along with a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Ottawa. His PhD research focuses on archival research, mathematical modeling, and econometrics, and he has extensive expertise in literature valuation models, event study methodology, behavioral studies, and classification models. Trottier's current research interests encompass forensics, analytics, big data, and machine learning. He has years of professional experience as a Chartered Accountant, having worked in various capacities including financial analyst, consultant, manager, and corporate controller for companies with assets ranging from $500 million to $270 billion. His teaching experience includes instructing undergraduate, PhD students, and Executive MBA classes in both theoretical and applied contexts. He has held board positions with the Canadian Academic Accounting Association, reflecting his active engagement in the academic community and a commitment to advancing the field of accounting education.
