Biography

Kimberley L. Gammage is a Professor in the Department of Kinesiology at Brock University, where she also serves as the Program Director for the Master of Professional Kinesiology program and the Director of the SeniorFit exercise program at the Brock-Niagara Centre for Health & Well-Being. Her research focuses on body image, particularly the enhancement of positive body image through physical activity among diverse populations. Utilizing both qualitative and quantitative methods, Dr. Gammage investigates factors that improve positive body image and reduce negative body image, emphasizing exercise, yoga, and educational strategies. Her work has involved various groups including university students, older adults, and individuals with health challenges such as multiple sclerosis and Parkinson’s disease. Dr. Gammage's current research projects include examining the impact of COVID-19 on physical activity and online fitness programming, particularly for older adults with chronic health conditions. Additionally, she has designed and implemented several programs aimed at fostering positive body image in real-life settings, such as the Body Image Awareness Seminars at the Brock-Niagara Centre. She is also involved in various organizations focused on sport and exercise psychology.
