Biography

Kimberley S. Mak, MD, MPH, is an Associate Professor of Radiation Oncology at the Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine, Boston University, and an attending physician at Boston Medical Center. She completed her MD at Harvard Medical School, a Master of Public Health at Harvard School of Public Health, and her undergraduate AB in Biochemical Sciences at Harvard College, graduating summa cum laude. Dr. Mak's clinical expertise encompasses thoracic, gastrointestinal, breast, and musculoskeletal cancers, and she directs the CyberKnife® radiosurgery program. Her research focuses on improving patient-reported outcomes related to quality of life and treatment-related toxicities, as well as disparities in cancer outcomes through the application of advanced radiotherapy techniques such as intensity-modulated radiation therapy and stereotactic radiotherapy. With a strong background in biostatistics and clinical trial design, Dr. Mak actively contributes to national cooperative research groups and serves on various committees related to quality improvement in cancer care. She has a commitment to mentoring students interested in oncology and radiation oncology, with a focus on disparities in cancer treatment and patient-centered research.
