Biography

Kimberly Buhman is a Professor in the Department of Nutrition Science at Purdue University. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from Iowa State University in 1992 and her Ph.D. in Nutrition from Purdue University in 1999. She completed post-doctoral studies at the Gladstone Institute of Cardiovascular Disease in San Francisco and at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. Dr. Buhman has held various roles at Purdue, including Interim Associate Dean for Research in the College of Health and Human Sciences from 2021 to 2022, and has been involved in the Interdepartmental Graduate Program in Nutrition as Director from 2018 to 2021. Her research focuses on lipid metabolism, particularly the molecular mechanisms of dietary fat absorption and its dysregulation in cancer. She has authored over 60 research articles and received funding from organizations such as the American Heart Association and the National Institutes of Health. Dr. Buhman was honored with the E.L.R. Stokstad Award from the American Society for Nutrition in 2013 and the Provost’s Award for Outstanding Graduate Mentoring in 2022.
