Biography

Kimberly Cornaggia is a Professor of Finance and the Louis R. & Virginia Benzak Professor at Smeal College of Business, Pennsylvania State University. She serves as the Department Head and has extensive expertise in corporate finance, credit risk, credit ratings, public finance, and household finance. Her research has been published in leading academic journals including the Journal of Finance, Journal of Financial Economics, Journal of Financial Quantitative Analysis, Management Science, Review of Finance, and Review of Financial Studies. Cornaggia has held faculty positions at American University, College of William and Mary, New York University, and Indiana University before joining the faculty at Smeal College. She has non-academic experience analyzing asset-backed securities markets in the credit ratings industry, working with the Securities Exchange Commission and the Department of Justice. Cornaggia earned her PhD in Finance from Purdue University in 2000 and a BS in Actuarial Science and Finance from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1994.
