Biography

Kimberly Zayhowski is an Assistant Professor in the Genetic Counseling Program at the Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Brandeis University, where she triple majored in Neuroscience, Biology, and Psychology and minored in Mathematics. Kimberly earned her Master of Science degree in Human Genetics and Genetic Counseling from Stanford University School of Medicine. Before joining the Boston University team in 2020, she worked at UMass Memorial Medical Center, providing counseling in general, prenatal, cancer, and cardiac genetics clinics. She has also served as a cancer genetic counselor at Boston Medical Center and is involved in clinical research education. Kimberly is active in the field and serves on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Genetic Counseling. Her recognitions include the AGCPD Outstanding Clinical Supervisor Award in 2021 and the NSGC Leader in Cultural Advocacy Award in 2022. Her research interests include developing community-led educational resources for transgender and gender diverse individuals, focusing on genetic risk assessment and gender-affirming procedures.
